Best freezer-worthy soups for all

Suzanne made me fall in love with soups. Every New Years Eve Day Suzanne and her husband John would host a soup & bread party. There were anywhere from 5 to 8 different kinds of soup! The party was the biggest, strangest mix of people. Artists & academics were there. People from diverse economic backgrounds and racial backgrounds, too. Sometimes it felt like people from all over the globe would be there!  I’d be sipping my soup as carefully as I could sos not to get anything in my braces or my best dress (Suzaane & my mom loved it when we all got dressed up).  I remember hearing people from Haiti exchange casual conversation, laugh whole heartily and I’d just think to myself, “I don’t know how you got here in the Jost’s basement in central IL eating soup next to me, but I like the way you talk and I like your teeth.” Note: It has become my practice now to always double my soup recipes to serve my family and to freeze half the batch for others in the future as needed.
